Cape Town Markets

Step out of your holiday apartment and you’ll find an amazing variety of products and entertainments in Cape Town’s markets, especially on weekends. Here you’ll find a rich variety of local color, arts, crafts, tastes and aromas that are unique to South Africa. We recommend three venues.

The legendary Old Biscuit Mill is something of an institution in the city. It has the vibe of a warm-hearted country hamlet situated in the middle of the bustling suburb of Woodstock. You’ll find designer stores, delicious farm-stalls, decadent cafes as well as no end of festivals and events. There’s always something going on here.

If you have a busy holiday schedule set up in your apartment, reserve Sunday morning for the Green Point Flea Market held in the Green Point Flea Market. It’s one of the largest markets in Cape Town and well worth a visit. At the Green Point Market you will be well entertained with music and crafts and loads of traditional African art pieces and curios are for sale.

Greenmarket Square, nestled in the heart of the Central Business District of Cape Town, offers many of the indigenous arts and crafts such as hand painted fabrics, wood carvings, glassware, clothing, jewellery, footwear, sunglasses, paintings and curios. They come not only from South Africa but from neighboring countries too. The variety is great and the prices are low - so there’s a high chance you’ll buy something to take back to your holiday apartment.
